1,183,280. Butt joint. KABELUND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 8 Oct., 1968 [9 Nov., 1967], No. 47657/68. Heading F2G. A corrugated tube has one end axially compressed to enable it to be connected in a gastight manner to a similarly prepared tube end or a connecting piece. When helically corrugated tubes are employed a flange may be screwed on to each tube end before the compression and the flanges drawn together by bolts. When tubes of bellows-like corrugations are employed the flange is made in two parts, each with a seating surface complementary with the corrugation. A sealing ring 8 which is softer than the material of the tubes, may be disposed between the tube ends. The end faces of the tube may be welded together.
