Abstract
387,502. Electric signalling systems. CORY CORPORATION, C., 754, Lexington Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Jan. 27, 1932, No. 2468. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1931. [Class 40 (i).] The ratio of movement of the rudder and the pointer of a rudder indicator is altered after the rudder has moved through a predetermined angle from its zero position. The rudder is connected to the shaft 1 and the pointer is controlled by the shaft 11 either directly or, as described in the Specification, by means of an electrical signalling system of the resultant field type. The indicator dial is shown in Fig. 3. Mounted on the shaft 1 by means of the bushing 6 is a sector 5 the teeth 8 of which mesh with the teeth of gear wheel 9 during movement of the shaft 1 through a predetermined angle. The wheel 9 is fixed to the shaft 11 and controls the movement of the indicator pointer 2. As the shaft 11 moves it carries the crank 15 with it and the link 13 moves so that when the sector 5 moves out of engagement with the wheel 9, the pin 16 is firmly seated in the end of the slot in the link 13 and is held there by the tension of spring 21. Further movement of the shaft 1 is thus communicated to the shaft 11 by means of the spring 21 co-operating with pins 16, 14 and link 13 and the ratio of movement between the pointer and rudder shaft is reduced.
