Abstract

1,065,926. Slack adjusters; indicators. ROCKWELL-STANDARD CORPORATION. Oct. 19, 1965 [Nov. 30, 19641. No. 44172/65. Heading F2E. A slack adjuster comprising an arm 32 rotatably adjustable relatively to a cam-shaft 30 is provided with means for indicating the relative rotation of the shaft, the means comprising an index plate 51 attached to the lever and a dial plate 59 mounted on the shaft and retained thereon by a clip 62. The plate 51 is secured to the lever by bent-over ears 54, 55 (Fig. 4, not shown) and carries tangs 57, one of which is bent up to form a pointer. Lugs 64 are provided on the plate 59 so that the wear can be determined, when markings are obscured by dirt, by feeling the relative positions of the bent-up tang 58 and the nearest lug 64. A manually operated slack adjuster is described, but an automatic adjuster as described in Specification 981,169 may be provided.
