Abstract

387,441. Tyre-pump connectors. KINSMAN, Ltd., Kinsman Works, Bond Street, Stirchley, and CHAPMAN, H. W., 207, Northfield Road, King's Norton, both in Birmingham. Nov. 16, 1931, No. 31666. [Class 99 (i).] A tyre - pump connector comprises a casing a, a spring-pressed plunger e carrying a rubber washer f which seats against the end of the tyre-valve nipple c, and a segmental nut i which engages the threads of the nipple. The nut is controlled by a lever j and spring k and is pivoted at t so that movement of the nut is parallel with the flanks of the screw-thread of the nipple. The plunger carries a projection u to open the tyre-valve and its movement is limited by a stop s. The plunger may engage a projection (not shown) on the nut to keep the latter in inoperative position until the valve nipple engages the plunger. In a modification the nut m, Fig. 4, is slidable in an inclined slot n in the casing by means of a finger-piece o and spring p.
