Abstract
387,289. Universal joints. SIMMS, F. R. and SIMMS MOTOR UNITS, Ltd., Percy Buildings, Gresse Street, Rathbone Place, London. Oct. 7, 1932, No. 28020. [Class 80 (ii).] In a finely-adjustable shaft coupling, for driving internal-combustion engine magnetos, wherein each shaft element 1, 2 has a different number of teeth 8, 10 arranged normal to each other and engaging depressions in a resilient rubber or composition disc 3, the said disc 3 has small projections 15 on its plain face which are compressed on assembly to hold the disc firmly in position and allow for any slight misalignment of the shafts. The element 1 may, as shown, have an outer protective flange 16, which flange, or the element 1 itself, carries graduated marks used in conjunction with a single mark on the element 2.
