386,397. Spray-producers. GROVES, W. W., 30, Southampton Buildings, London. -(Otto & Co. Ges., Dr. C.; 9, Christstrasse, Bochum, Germany.) Nov. 19, 1931, No. 32118. [Class 69 (iii).] A sprayer, more particularly for gas washers of the wooden board type, comprises a hollow cylinder the diameter of which is reduced in the downward direction provided with horizontal circumferential slots i and rings r surrounding the cylinder and placed over the slots the inclined lower surfaces q of which cause the liquid to fall in conical sheets. The angle of inclination to the vertical of the surfaces q is varied to give cones of varying angle the angle of least inclination corresponding to the lowest position. The nozzle may be telescopically mounted in a tube leading into the top of a washing tower so as to be adjustable according to the level of the liquid supply. Regulation may be effected by a butterfly valve in the supply. A continuously rotated butterfly valve may be mounted in the supply pipe to vary continuously the spread of the liquid from the jets.
