Abstract

385,737. 'Nozzles and roses. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd. and GRIGGS, A. R., Humglas House, Carlisle Place, London. Dec. 18, 1931, No. 35108. [Class 69 (iii).] A flexible disc d having one or more outlets d<3> can be distended or drawn in so as to vary the angular direction of the jets and thus vary the area sprayed. The Figure shows a hollow body c with an inlet b having an enlarged end closed by a perforated corrugated diaphragm clamped by a screwed ring e. The diaphragm has secured at its centre a threaded boss d<2> engaged by a screwed rod f by which it may be distended or retracted. In a modification, the diaphragm is secured to a rod the lower end of which carries a head held within a boss in an adjustable screw cup on the lower end of the nozzle. The outlets d<3> may be either normal or inclined to the diaphragm d.
