Abstract

214,921. Pickard, W. Nov. 12, 1923. Spray carburettors. - A mushroom valve f, fitting in the choke-tube a<1>, is carried by a spindle f<1> having grooves f<2> extending to various heights so that nozzles e<1> are brought into action in succession when the spindle is lifted by an arm g<1> which may be moved by the accelerator pedal. Fuel is supplied through a chamber c<1> from a float, chamber d which is mounted on a rod a<3> so as to be adjustable in height. The spindle passes through a gland c<3>, packed with cork, and is bored so that steam admitted at h<1> is discharged at f<4>. The primary air supply is regulated by a ported sleeve a<4>. A slow-running nozzle, as described in Specification 208,772, is provided above the valve f. Specification 212.669 also is referred to.
