Abstract
386,110. Draughtexcluders for doors. ELLDRED, W. R., 37, Woodberry Way, North Finchley, London. Dec. 24,1931, No. 35734. [Class 20 (iii).] Relates to draught-excluders for doors, of the kind in which a sliding draughtexcluding element B, Figs. 1 and 3, is depressed into contact with the floor by cams c, when the door reaches the closed position, the cams being actuated by a rod C, one end c<2> of which engages with the hinge side of the door frame. According to the invention, the element B is guided in vertical guides a<5> formed on a foundation plate A. The latter is mounted in a central recess at the bottom of the door and is attached to the door by wood screws passing through endplates a<3>. At one edge of the door, the plates A, a<3>, are connected permanently together, while at the hinged edge they are detachably interconnected by a screw c<6>. This arrangement enables the complete device to be readily withdrawn from the recess. The element B is substantially of channel section and is formed with upstanding tongues b which engage between the guides a<5>. The channel holds a wooden lath which carries a strip bl of felt, rubber, or the like. Springs b<3> raise the element B when the door is open. The overall length of the rod C is adjusted by a compound nut c<5> which engages with right- and lefthanded screw threads formed on two sections of the rod.
