Abstract

In order to maintain the corrosion-resisting qualities of a constructional unit in which a foundation metal is protected by a coating or plating of another metal any parts of the coating or plating which become corroded are cleaned and then re-coated, preferably by spraying. The process is applicable particularly to cases in which the coating or plating metal is electronegative with respect to the foundation metal, for example aluminium alloys coated with pure aluminium or with aluminium alloys of different composition. Coating rivet heads and cut edges is referred to.
