Abstract
385,776. Loud-speakers. GRIGSBY, B. J., 5801, Dickens Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Feb. 15, 1932, No. 4431. [Class 40 (iv).] An electrostatic reproducer having a substantially plane surface forms one or more of the panels or walls of a wireless receiver cabinet. As shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the loudspeaker comprises a relatively stiff metal-plate 10 with perforations 11 and slightly waved. In contact with the plate 10 is a sheet of dielectric material, such as rubberized silk to which a flexible conducting material 13 such as gold leaf, is secured by adhesion. The diaphragm is protected by a grille 24, the receiver controls 18, 19 passing through the diaphragm and grille. Three or all four walls of the cabinet may be constituted by diaphragms and protecting grilles, Figs. 4 and 6 (not shown); or three normal side panels may be used with diaphragms associated with each, the fourth side being a grille for the sound output, Fig. 7 (not shown). Certain apparatus controls may be rigidly mounted on the diaphragm between insulating clamps, Fig. 8 (not shown).
