Abstract

1,105,627. Electrostatic loud-speakers. A. SHACKMAN. 12 May, 1966 [28 May, 1965], No. 22716/65. Heading H4J. An electrostatic loud-speaker comprises two fixed and apertured plates 1, 2 disposed in spaced relationship, and a flexible diaphragm having an electrically conductive surface and a non-electrically conductive surface (3a), Fig. 3 (not shown), disposed between the plates 1, 2 with the conductive surface (3a) in conductive contact with the plate 2. The plates 1, 2 are preferably parallel and curved. A continuous length of cotton 4 is wound about the plate 1 and another continuous length of cotton 5 is wound about the plate 1 plus the diaphragm 3. Felt pads 6 prevent vibration of the plates 1, 2. Local circuit.-The plates 1, 2 are coupled respectively to the ends of a secondary of an audio transformer T, a D.C. blocking condenser C being provided. A D.C. polarizing voltage is applied through a resistor R. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,006,826.
