Abstract
385,758. Road-vehicle forecarriages. JONKHOFF, H. W., 2A, Bergerufer, Dusseldorf, Germany. Jan. 19, 1932, No. 1618. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1931. [Class 108 (ii).] In a swivelling truck or bogey for road vehicles, a cross member 7 carries a king-pin 1 upon which is rotatably mounted a centrepiece 2 bearing on the cross member through the intermediary of rollers 5, and slidably connected to the frame of the vehicle, while the bogey wheels 14, 14a, two or more of which are steerable, are mounted on rocking arms 9 pivoted to the cross member and support the bogey and main frame by laminated springs 12. The weight of the vehicle is transmitted to the cross member 7 through four vertical members 4 carrying the rollers 5. The bogey may move longitudinally relatively to the frame by reason of a sliding connection between the intermediate member 2 and bars 6 carried by the lower ends of the vertical members 4, this movement being controlled by springs. A drawbar 15 may be pivoted to the king-pin 1 and may be connected to the wheels so as to adjust them for steering.
