Abstract

Green cattle fodder is preserved by being acidified, the acidification being accomplished by the use of compounds containing sulphur and chlorine such as sulphur trioxy-tetrachloride, thionyl chloride, sulphuryl chloride, sulphur oxychloride, chlorsulphonic acid or pyrosulphuryl chloride either alone or in mixtures. Phosphorus pentachloride may be added to the above substances. The compounds are added to water and the solution sprayed on the fodder. Specification 370,685 is referred to.
