Abstract
Water-attracting substances or mixtures thereof, for instance common salt, are prevented from agglomerating by mixing them in powdered form with partially or wholly dehydrated calcium citrate.ALSO:Citric acid is stabilized against agglomeration by mixing it with partially or wholly dehydrated calcium citrate. A small amount of calcium oxide may be intimately admixed with the citric acid at 40 DEG C. to form the calcium citrate in situ.ALSO:Water-attracting substances or mixtures thereof are prevented from agglomerating by mixing them in powdered form with partially or wholly dehydrated calcium citrate. Examples relate to the treatment of common salt, of a tartaric acid-sodium bicarbonate mixture for use as a fruit salt, of a baking-powder consisting of acid sodium pyrophosphate and sodium bicarbonate, of coffee powder or a coffee powder substitute, of a composition for preventing coagulation of the blood of slaughtered animals consisting of common salt and phosphates poorer in water of constitution than the orthophosphates, and of citric acid. In the last case calcium oxide is intimately mixed at 40 DEG C. with the acid to produce the calcium citrate in situ.
