[Class 59.] A pulverizer for dried material such as grain, biscuits, cloves, coffee, nuts, comprises beaters 24 pivoted on bars 23 threaded through the corner portions of spaced triangular discs 22 which are pinned to the shaft 15, the beaters 24 being progressively of greater length as the distance from the inlet hopper 18 increases.. The beaters have bosses 25 which space them along the bars 23. A screen 26 is arranged just clear of the paths of the beater ends, and is removably supported, on bearers 27, above a shoot 3 which delivers the ground material to the blower 7 which may be driven independently,. in which case the apparatus may be used, with the screen removed, as an elevator, or may be driven from the pulley 14 on the shaft 15, the jockey 13 tensioning the belt. To remove the screen 26, the plate 30 is first detached and the portion 28 of the shoot 3 is swung down about its pivot 29. The hopper 18 has an overhanging weir 19 and the feed is regulated by a screwadjusted sliding shutter. In a modification, the blower is dispensed with, the ground material being discharged by gravity through a shoot having a bag attached thereto.
