Abstract
700,786. Impact pulverizers. SANDOR, B. T. May 29, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 14204/51. Class 59 A mill for grinding grain, grass, pig feed, cattle feed &c. with revolvable hammers, flails or beaters coacting with a perforated screen 5 has at least one delivery opening 7, preferably adjacent to the screen, through which is discharged from the mill, separately from the ground material passing through the screen, a proportion of the material treated therein which is harder to grind than the bulk of the material and which is thrown or deflected into the passage by the beaters, the size of the, or each, opening 7 being adjustable to vary the extraction rate. Material is fed into the mill over a plate 6 which may be adjustable lengthwise and angularly and deflects the coarser particles of the ground material into the opening 7 which can be adjusted by a sliding panel 9. The delivery passage 8 from the opening 7 to a bagging station may be closed by a shutter 11 during the removal of the full bag. The coarse particles may be ground again in the same or a different mill or be fed to a mixer or filter. When grain is milled, the husks are discharged through the opening 7. The fines may be sucked through the screen 5 by a fan and raised to a cyclone bagging device. The Specification states the percentage of the grain processed which is discharged through the opening 7 for different settings of the panel 9. In milling dried grass, any wet patches are ejected through the opening 7. The mill may be set to produce feed for pigs and cattle simultaneously. More than one bag may be filled at a time (not shown) or the passage 8 bifurcated (not shown), Fig. 3 (not shown), and an adjustable flap provided to direct material to either of the branches. In a modification, Fig. 4, the sliding panel 21 may act as a relief valve and pivot in bearings 22 under the weight of the ejected material if the mill is overfed, the panel pivoting against the influence of an adjustable spring 23 or an adjustable balance weight.
