[Class 40 (iv).] A loud-speaker comprises a casing a divided into two chambers b, c by a partition f, an actuating unit d located in the chamber b having its diaphragm e registering with an aperture g in the partition whilst the chamber c is formed with passages k of different diameters leading to forwardly and rearwardly extending trumpets i. The trumpets, which are of different sizes and vertically truncated or of flute-nozzle shape, may be provided with vibrating strings or blades and may, if desired, be arranged one within the other. An arrangement of trumpets in the shape of truncated pyramids arranged side by side after the fashion of a honeycomb is also described. If desired, the casing a may be replaced by a screen.
