703,184. Diaphragms. LOBB, J. May 23, 1952 [May 29, 1951], No. 12527/51. Class 40 (4) [Also in Group XXXVIII] A diaphragm is made of wood with the grain end on to the surface. The diaphragm is inside the sound box of a violin and receives vibrations from the front plate 1 through a sound post 11 preferably a little nearer the tail than the bridge 8 and transmits vibrations to the rear plate 2 through a hollow cylinder 12. The periphery of the diaphragm is preferably free but may be located by felt pads 10. The thickness of the diaphragm reduces towards the edges.
