Abstract

384,950. Measuring fabrics. STRAUSS, H., 71, Hochemmericher Strasse, Hochemmerich, Rheinhausen, Germany. Aug. 8, 1932, No. 22198. [Class 42 (ii).] Apparatus for measuring fabrics comprises two feeding bands 4, 2 pas. sing over rollers 6, 3, 21 and 1, 27, 26, and a velvet stretching band 30 travelling in the opposite direction to the bands 2, 4. The rollers 21, 26 are driven by a motor 23 through a clutch 18. The pressure roller 6 is mounted in a frame 5 pivoted on the axis of the roller 3 and is held down against the action of a spring 8 by rods 11 mounted on a shaft 10 and connected by rods &c. 15, 15<1>, 17 with the clutch 18. A screw driven from the roller 21 moves a pointer 39 over a scale 31 and shows the length of fabric measured. When a predetermined length has been measured off the pointer 39 contacts with an adjustable stop 32 on a rod 33 and moves it endwise and through levers 40 withdraws the rods 11 from above the frame 5 freeing the pressure roller 6 and throwing out the clutch 18. When measuring a remnant, clips 48 fixed on the remnant 47 displace a lever 49 which through rods &c. 50 frees the roller 6 and throws out the clutch. A cutter carriage runs in a grooved rail 43 across the machine.
