Abstract

448,730. Measuring fabrics &c. ABEL. A., 1, Chatsworth Avenue, Prestwich, Lancashire. March 22, 1935, No. 8961. [Class 42 (ii)] In a measuring-machine the brake pulley E of the anti-spinning device is loosely mounted on the roller shaft A<1>, and connected therewith by a spring controlled or other slipping clutch so that after the feelers have dropped and the pulley E is arrested the shaft A<1> and roller A can still rotate until the fabric end leaves the rollers A, B. The roller A is preferably spirally grooved as shown, the top of the ridge a<3> being knurled or roughened. The roller B may be covered with sponge rubber &c. According to the Provisional Specification the roller B may be of reduced diameter for part of its length, and such part covered with sponge rubber &c., or a band stretched between two rollers may press the fabric against the roller A.
