Abstract

242,348. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Co., Ltd., Sir W. G., Hadcock, Sir A. G., and Forster, G. Aug. 6, 1924. Addition to 199,082. Coiling. - In an apparatus according to the parent Specification for indicating the tension on wire when being wound on guns, the end of the spring moved when tension is placed upon the wire in use is provided with a detachable sleeve sliding over a fixed graduated cylinder. The frame 1 is provided with guides 2 over which slides an inverted U-shaped piece carrying an axle 4 on which is mounted on ball bearings a pulley 6. The axle 4 slides in slots 7 in the frame. A bolt 8 passes upwards through the U-piece and has secured by a wing nut 9 at its end a sleeve 10 which slides over a cylinder, slots and guides 11 being formed on the sleeve and cylinder so that the sleeve may be taken off and replaced in one of several angular positions. The cylinder may be provided with several scales corresponding to different diameters of wire, the sleeve being adjusted so that a peep-hole in it travels over a scale corresponding to the wire in use.
