Abstract

426,987. Draughting-machines. PENRUDDOCKE, J. H. H., Ensleigh, Limpley Stoke, Bath. May 14, 1934, No. 14575. [Class 97 (iii)] In a device for drawing convergent lines, the ends of a ruler are connected by flexible bands maintained under tension by loading means, e.g. springs, to interconnected differential winding means at the edge of the drawing board. As shown, the wires 11, 12, clamped at 14 to the ends of the ruller 15 pass round pulleys 13 at the top corners of the drawing board 3 and are wound respectively on the smaller 9 and larger 10 helically grooved parts of a differential winding drum 1, loaded by a clock spring. A washer may be pressed on the drum by a finger nut to suppress the freedom of movement. In order to adjust the position of the point of convergence, the drums 1 may be interchangeable, the pulleys 13 and clamps 14 may be on slides 17 adjustable in slideways 18 on the board 3 and ruler 15 respectively, or one of the clamps 14 may be replaced by a pulley around which the wire 11 passes to a fixed point 14<a>. The drum 1 may be replaced by two drums connected by gearing or the drum 1, pulleys 13 and wires 11, 12 may be duplicated on the lower part of the board. The drum 1 and pulleys 13 may be mounted on a detachable board portion 29 which may be reversed in position. Guiding ledges 16 may be provided on the sides of the board.
