Abstract
384,594. Steam boilers heated by hot waste gases. CLARKSON THIMBLE TUBE BOILER CO., Ltd. and NIVEN, W. J., 613, Australia House, Strand, London. June 30, 1932, No. 18497. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having thimble tubes 4 or cross or curved tubes in an internal flue and adapted to be heated simultaneously by exhaust gases and combustion gases from an oilburner, the tubes of the part heated by exhaust gases and the tubes of the part heated by combustion gases are expanded into a common tube plate. The lower thimble tubes projecting from the tube plate and flue wall 2 are heated by combustion gases from the combustion chamber 10. The gases are directed outwards by a central core 7 and are led to the uptake through a central flue 12 extending from a central aperture in a partition 5 across the main flue. The upper thimble tubes are heated by exhaust gases which are admitted through a branch 14 at the top of the boiler and flowing downwards over the tubes, finally escape through an annular flue around the central flue 12.
