Abstract
384,562. Driving dynamos. SPORT AKT.-GES., 12A, Plaenkestrasse, Biel, Bienne, Switzerland. May 23, 1932, No. 14562. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1931. [Class 35.] A mounting device for the dynamo of a bicycle or the like is totally enclosed and is arranged so that the swinging of the dynamo about a fixed axis away from the vehicle wheel disengages the device which locks the dynamo in its inoperative position. In the form shown, the spring 3 connects the housing 2 to the fixed axis 1 which has guide pins 7, 8 and is surrounded by the cam 4 which is pushed away from the housing, as well as urged to its position of rest, by the spring 5 connected at the other end to the housing. The dynamo is retained in the inoperative position shown in Fig. 4 by the engagement of a pin 6 fixed to the housing in the slot 12 on the cam 4 and is released from this position by turning the housing against the pressure of spring 3 which acts in the direction of the arrow 14, whereby the cam 4 is forced to move axially in order that its projection 9 may pass the pin 7, and this axial movement releases the peg 6 from the slot 12 and allows the housing to swing so that the dynamo roller is pressed on the wheel by the spring 3. The movement of the peg 6 along the surface 13 again produces axial movement of the cam 4 so that the spring 5 is free to return the cam so that its projection 9 is again on the right of pin 7 and the cam is then ready to lock the dynamo when it is swung back. In an alternative form the cam 4 is replaced by a member which slides in slots in the housing and co-operates with pins 7, 8 fixed on the bottom of the housing and with the peg 6 which passes through the axis. In a further alternative, the pin 8 is carried on the lever 4 and travels in a slot in the housing and the pin 6 is on the axis. In the form shown in Fig. 20, the member 4 is a pawl pivoted at 23 and urged towards the axis by a spring 24. By co-operating with cams 25, 31 fixed on the axis, the same results are produced as in the other arrangements.
