383,527. Road surface markings. LEDOUX, J. A., 50, Houghton Street, Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. April 4, 1932, No. 9622. [Class 3 (ii).] Relates to a road-surface marker of the kind in which a rubber block 20 forming the surface is supported by a metal plate 18 in a casing 10 adapted to be anchored in the road, as by lugs 11. According to the invention the rubber block is removably held in the casing by a latch 24. In assembling, the rubber block 20 and plate 18 are inserted under lugs 21a on the casing ; the latch 24 is inserted in a slot 22 in the opposite end of the rubber block, which is then compressed slightly so that bevelled edges underneath the latch engage lugs 21b on the casing ; and finally the latch is pressed down so as to snap under the lugs. To remove the rubber block and its supporting plate, the bevelled prongs of a fork are pressed down on bevels 29 on the latch so as to enter between the latch and the casing 10, thus compressing the rubber block and allowing it to be removed by levering with a screwdriver on teeth 25 on the latch. A lens 30 may be pressed by a rubber block 36 against the rim 32 of a conical flange 31 raised from the plate 18, the rubber block being carried by a plate 37 having lugs detachably engaging slots in the conical flange.
