[Class 119.] Relates to recoil-operated guns of the kind in which the barrel 1, at the end of its long recoil movement, strikes against a buffer sleeve 14 movable on the guide-rod 5 of the barrel-return spring 8. According to the invention, the buffer sleeve surrounds the barrel-return spring and rests on a buffer spring 15 which bears against a flange 17 on the guide-rod. When out of action, the buffer spring pushes the buffer sleeve 14 against a flange 7 on the guiderod.
