Abstract
382,416. Hair-waving appliances. VATTER, J., 17, Rosenheimerstrasse, Munich, Germany. Oct. 20, 1931, No. 29146. Convention date, July 10. [Class 131.] A hair-waving appliance comprises a shank or spindle 1, Fig. 1, divided into sections by a collar or collars 27, the hair being curled spirally on the sections in turn and laid across the collar when passing from one section to the next. The spindle 1 is hollow and is screwed on a shank 3 attached to a plate 2 carrying a clamping device adapted to grip the root of the hair. The clamping device comprises two parts 23, 24, Fig. 4, hinged together and secured in the closed position by a catch 26a which is attached by a link 26 to the part 24 and is provided with an enlargement adapted to engage in a recess 26b in the part 23. An extension 28 may be screwed to the upper end of the shank 3 in order that the waver may be of a suitable length for insertion in the usual heaters. The collar 27 may be conical, and may be provided with one or several semicircular notches, with a helical notch, or with a series of projecting studs between any two of which the hair can be laid. The sections of the spindle 1 may be separable from one another and may be provided with separable collars. In a modification, Fig 10 (not shown), the spindle comprises a section of large diameter to the end of which is secured eccentrically a section of smaller diameter, a shoulder, over which the hair is laid in passing from one section to the other, being thus formed between the sections.
