Abstract

382,281. Stockings. HEINITZ, W., 24, Neefestrasse. Chemnitz, Germany. July 15, 1931, No. 20325. [Class 141.] The heel of a stocking is widened by subjecting to a widening operation the marginal loops x intended for seaming, and is rounded by subjecting the loops other than the marginal loops y to a narrowing operation. The heel is subsequently narrowed by subjecting all the heel loops to a narrowing operation. Preferably the narrowing is performed in two stages in the first stage the transfer points retreat to the extent of two needles at each operation, and in the second stage they retreat by one needle only. After the second narrowing, several narrowing courses may be knitted in the manner of a gusset. Specification 377,818 is referred to.
