Abstract
390,399. Stockings. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.- GES., 11, Lothringerstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany. Aug. 19, 1932, No. 23328. Convention date Sept. 26, 1931. [Class 141.] Hosiery made in one operation in a flat-bed machine and having heel portions made simultaneously with the foot portion connecting them is formed with a reinforcement commencing line or a reinforcement transition line, extending obliquely to the courses of loops, in addition to the narrowing lines. In the fabric shown in the Figure, a reinforcing thread 2, after forming a number of supplementary or casting- off rows, is worked over the first four wales of the foot portion 1 for two courses and then over the first six wales for one course to form double loops. In subsequent courses, shortening of the path of the ground thread guide and inward displacement of the reinforcing thread guide are effected alternatively to produce the oblique reinforcing line. The invention may be applied to hosiery having heels obtained by widening marginal loops adapted to be sewn or by casting-on loops and the amount and time of displacement of the loops may be varied as desired.
