382,243. Obstetric forceps. LONNE, F., 33, Weststrasse, Gelsenkirchen, Germany. May 27, 1932, No. 15160. Convention date, May 27, 1931. [Class 81 (ii).] In obstetric forceps comprising a pair of complementary members 4 connectable after application to the foetus by a hinge pin 1 an adjustable stop, comprising. a quick-pitch screw 5, is provided in one handle 3 engaging, by a hemispherical head 7. a recessed plate 8 resiliently mounted, by a spring 15, in the other handle 2. The plate 8 has a stem 9 the end 10 of which projects through the cap 13 of the spring casing and is provided with graduations. The instrument permits, by adjustment of the screw 5, a normal pressure on the fcetal head, and also a limited additional pressure against the action of the spring. The blades of the forceps may be enclosed in rubber sheaths 14, of which the inner walls are the thicker, and which cover the normal apertures provided for the ears of the foetus.
