[Class 39 (i).] The connection between the cap and bulb of an electric incandescent lamp or electric discharge tube is such that there is some amount of play between the connecting parts thereof to provide a limited free movement of the cap relatively to the bulb, and an elastic body, such as a compression spring, is arranged between the cap and the bulb. The bulb 1, Fig. 1, has secured to its upper end a collar 2 which is formed with three lips or stems 3 adapted to be inserted within apertures 7, Fig. 2, in a screw-threaded cap 6 and bent over at their upper ends, the dimensions of the stem's 3 and apertures 7 being such that a limited movement of the cap 6 relatively to the bulb is obtainable in an axial direction, preferably with no appreciable movement in a tangential direction. A spring 5 which bears on a rim 4 within the collar 2 presses upwardly upon the screw cap 6. The spring may be attached either to the screw cap or to the bulb.
