Abstract
381,392. Inkstands. VIVIAN, G. S., 237, Norbury Crescent, Norbury, London, and FORD, Ltd., T. B., Snakeley Paper Mill, Loudwater, High Wycombe. Dec. 2, 1931, No. 33443. [Class 146 (iii).] An ink receptacle for use in filling self-filling fountain pens is provided with a tubular pen guide depending from the top of the ink chamber and having an annular ledge to form an abutment for the nib section of the pen, the ledge being slightly above a small aperture or space communicating between the ink chamber and a well beneath the guide to maintain a constant liquid level in the well. The chamber 1 has a depression 4 in its bottom and a guide 6 is screwed into its roof. The lower portion 7 of the guide also forms a well and is housed in the depression 4 and is provided with an internal shoulder 9 to form an abutment for the pen. Immediately below the shoulder are small apertures 8 through which ink passes into the well 7 if the level therein drops. To refill the container the guide 6 can be unscrewed, and is provided with a milled head 12 for this purpose. A stopper 14, with a shank 15 which engages the shoulder 9 to prevent leakage, can be screwed into the guide 6. In modifications, the well 7 may be sealed directly into the bottom of the container 1, the depression 4 being missing, or the depression 4 may itself serve as well, the guide 6 reaching nearly to the mouth of it and leaving an annular aperture for the flow of ink, or the well may be the lower part of a sleeve which surrounds the guide 6 and is screwed into the roof of the chamber. A second screw-stoppered aperture for the refilling of the container may be provided. The guides may be interchangeable or adaptable to accommodate pens of different sizes.
