Abstract

240,302. Killick, S. G. Oct. 14, 1924. Fountain-pen fillers.-A device for facilitating the filling of self-filling fountain pens comprises a filler a adapted to fit loosely into an ordinary ink bottle c and provided with an ink passage b, a recess b<2> to receive the nib of the pen, and a resilient seating d for the pen. The lower portion of the ink passage b may be small enough to form a capillary tube. The passage may be eccentric and may lead to near the top of the recess b<2>. The base a<3> of the pillar may have a flat, grooved, conical, or saucer shaped recess. The seating may be formed from rubber and flanged or may be formed as a ring, or a truncated cone, or may be cup shaped to fit into corresponding depressions in the pillar. The aperture in the seating may be oval to accommodate large nibs and may be lined by a metal ferrule e. A projecting wall may be formed on or attached to the pillar. which may be part fluted. A metal sleeve e<1> may surround the exterior of the seating or the upper part of the pillar. The recess b<2> may be cylindrical or oval, or may be enlarged between its two ends and may have a conical base.
