Pen stands.-A fountain-pen stand 10 is formed with a recess 15, which may contain a sleeve 16, the recess or sleeve being adapted to receive the nib of a fountain pen 19 and to support the pen at a point below that normally held by the fingers during writing so as to obviate the possibility of inking the fingers. The outer end of the recess may be flared so as to engage the lower end of the penbarrel. In modifications, a bracket, is secured to the outer end of the sleeve 16 to support the pen-holder; the aperture may be partly closed by a semicircular flange ; a number of projections may be formed in the recess to prevent contact between the ink and wall of the recess; the recess may be bevelled or otherwise formed to hold the pen by friction, or be screw-threaded, so that the nib does not contact with the wall of the recess; or the recess may be filled with a number of stiff bristles secured to the bottom of the recess, or with a quantity of shot or like material.
