Abstract
381,379. Mercury switches. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES., 13, Steinstrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. Nov. 13, 1931, No. 31491. Convention date, Jan. 10. [Class 38 (v).] Pneumatic actuation.-In order to open and close the circuits of the control and indicating devices and the pump-driving motors of an air-loaded hydraulic accumulator, evacuated mercury tilting-switches are provided at the respective levels, and are each connected to a float which is located either in the pressurewater container or in a laterally-arranged tube connected to the top and bottom of the container. In one arrangement, the switch 5, Fig. 1, is secured to an arm 2 carrying an inverted cup-float 1 and mounted upon a shaft 4 in a pocket 3 communicating with the accumulator or the tube. The shaft 4 is supported on members 4<1> fixed to a closure member 31 fitted with a glass plug 9 carrying leads 6, 7. In another form, Fig. 7, the shaft 4 is journalled in, and extends through, the walls of the pocket, and the switch 5 is mounted outside the walls in a visible position.
