[Class 38 (i).] A cord grip for two-part plug couplings comprises an abutment stud or screw 18, Figs. 2 and 4, in one part 1 of the plug, cooperating with the groove 13 in the plug, through which the cable 16 passes, and an intermediate pressure block 17 between the stud and the cable which is clamped, on assembly of the plug, between the pressure piece 17 and the other part 2 of the plug. The screw 18 and piece 17, which latter is movable in the cable groove, are adjusted prior to the assembly of the plug and the screw 18 may be carried on either of the two parts thereof, whilst the pressure block 17 is mounted in the cable grooves which may also be arranged in either of the parts. The pressure block is held against endwise movement both by the stud 18 and a screw 20 in the member 1 engaging a hole 21 in an extension of the block 17 which extension separates the terminals 7, 8 of the contact-carrying plate when the coupling is assembled and the terminals fit into recesses 11 in the handle part 1. An earthing pin 9 and terminal 10 are provided and have a separate cable entry and groove 14, 12. Additional clamping means may be provided for the earthing cable 15 also. In a modification Fig. 5, the groove 13 is formed in the contactcarrying part 26 and the pressure block 33 is provided with lateral projections 34 and fits into the groove which is provided with lateral recesses 35. The handle part 1 carries the adjustable abutment'screw 32 which bears on the block 33 in the groove 13 on assembly of the parts of the plug.
