Abstract

380,909. Boots &c. CRIDLAND, H. J., 26, King Square, and QUANTICK, C. T., 6, Henleaze Terrace, both in Bristol. Aug. 15, 1931, No. 23036. [Class 17 (ii).] A shoe or the like 1 is provided with separable fastening means for closing the front opening 2, and one of the series of elements of the fastening means is adjustable independently of the other series by strap-andbuckle means so that the shoe can be adjusted to suit different sizes of instep. Preferably, one of the series of elements 4 is carried by one edge of the opening 2, and the other series 5 by a strip of leather 6 which overlies the other edge of the opening 2 and the adjacent portion of the upper, a slide member 10 being provided for closing the opening 2. The strip 6 is formed with an integral strap 8 which co-operates with a buckle 9 on the upper. The shoe is further provided with a flap 13, which may form an extension of the tongue of the shoe, adapted to cover the shoe fastening means, and to be held in place by means of press stud fasteners 14 .. 17.
