380,054. Pumping systems. GUINARD, A. P., Chemin de la Fouilleuse, St-Cloud, Seine - et - Oise, France. June 2, 1931, No. 16098. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 6, 1931.] [Class 110 (i).] In a reservoir for viscous liquids, such as fuel oil, or volatile liquids, such as petrol, and having a submerged pump 81, a valve-box 85 automatically puts the pipe line 841 into communication with the pump discharge pipe 84, when discharging the reservoir, and into communication with a pipe 89 when charging the reservoir. The valve-box comprises chamber 86, 87 communicating through a check-valve 88, the chamber 86 communicating with the pipe 84 and the chamber 87, which contains a filter 94, communicating with the pipe 84<1>. When charging the reservoir the chamber 87 communicates with the pipe 89 through a check-valve 93 situated above a partition 92. A safety-valve 91 communicates with the pipe 89 by a pipe 90. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the following modifications: A casing 1, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), is supported by trunnions 2 on a lorry 4 movable on rails 5. The casing 1 carries at one end a pump 7 and at the other end an electric or hydraulic motor 8 driving the pump by means of a shaft 10. The pump discharges through the casing 1 and through one of the trunnions 2 and the reservoir may be charged through the other trunnion. In another form, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), a pump 50 discharging through a pipe 51 is driven by an hydraulic motor 50<1> with supply and exhaust pipes 52, 53. The pump and motor are supported by the pipes and can be raised by means of a crane 70. In a modification the pipes 51, 52, 53 are hinged at their upper ends and the pump and motor are supported by a float. It is stated that similar apparatus can be employed for emptying tank-boats and casks. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
