[Class 106 (v).] Fixed chamber apparatus for granular and pulverulent materials. -Powdered material, s u c h a s cement &c., is fed into a reservoir 1 through a valve 4 until the material in the reservoir closes a valve 6 operating a piston valve 7 which thereupon admits compressed air or fluid from a pipe 16 to a cylinder 8 connected to a lever 11 which is raised and closes the valve 4 and admits air or fluid through a pipe 19 to the reservoir 1 whereby the material is discharged through an outlet 5. The end of the lever 11 bears on the end of a lever arm 14 connected to a piston 15 in the compressed air or fluid pipe 16, decisive movement of the arm being ensured by a sliding weight 17 in its free end. The arm 14 is released by the upward movement of the lever 11 and the branch pipe 19 uncovered to admit compressed air or fluid to a valve 20 on top of the material and a valve 22 at the bottom of the material near the outlet 5 whereupon the contents of the reservoir is discharged. In a modification two reservoirs are interconnected to produce a continuous discharge, the discharge orifice 5 in each reservoir being provided with a slide valve connected to the lever 11 and the cylinder 8 being connected under the piston to the other valve 7, the pistonrod operating a three-way cock in the compressed air-pipe to admit pressure to each reservoir alternately. A valve, similar to the valve 15 may be placed in the fluid-pressure pipe.
