[Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii).] A safety device of the kind which prevents the insertion of a cartridge loader when the trigger or firing-lever is in the pulled or firing position, has an elastic connection between the firing means and the device to allow firing when the loader is in position. In the form shown, a firing-pedal 141 associated with an adjustable foot-rest 144 operates the firing-lever 154 through the medium of a rotary shaft 147, linkage 151, and cam 153. This cam, by means of an extensible link 164 moves the safety stop 158 into the loading channel 161 to prevent the insertion of the loader when the firing- pedal is pressed but allows firing if the loader is in position. The drawings illustrate means for adjusting the gun training pivot to the vertical position.
