Abstract

378,293. Metallic-vapour rectifiers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Dec. 2, 1931, No. 33428. Convention date, Jan. 28. [Class 39 (i).] The cooling surfaces are so arranged that the distance between adjacent surfaces decreases and the total area increases with the distance from the cathode. The surfaces may consist of stepped cylinders 8, 10, 11, Fig. 5, or coils, Fig. 4 (not shown). Stepped cooling vanes 16 may be provided on the cylinders and radial ribs 14 may be fixed to the cover to deflect the vapour towards the walls of the container. In a modification, cooling elements 21 .. 24, Fig. 6, forming a honeycomb-shaped member, are arranged concentrically with respect to the cathode. Cooling pipes may be provided in the elements.
