Abstract

882,379. Transformers and inductances. SMIT & CO'S. TRANSFORMATORENFABRIEK N.V., WILLEM. June 18, 1959 [June 18, 1958], No. 21023/59. Class 38 (2). A high voltage winding 1 (Fig. 1) screened by an insulated metal shield ring 4 is insulated by a solid cylinder 2 which has flanges 8, 9 and 10 bent therefrom and incorporates a conducting or semi-conducting screen 18 connected to the winding and continued into flange 8. An annular space is formed between the top of shield ring 4 and the lower curved edge of a second shield ring 6, the screen 18 inside the insulating flange 8 terminating as near as possible to the bottom of the annular space. The rings 4 and 6 may be replaced by a single ring of shape similar to their combined shape or may be of the same radial width with the annular space between their outer edges. An alternative construction using a single ring 4 of simple form is shown in Fig. 2.
