Abstract
377,966. Counting-apparatus. COWEY, L. E., Archer Works, Kew Gardens, Surrey. April 30, 1931, No. 12738. [Class 106 (i).] In an apparatus comprising t w o counters each driven by pawl and ratchet mechanism, the member driving the two pawls is provided with two eccentrics e a c h actuating one of the pawls, whereby both counters are actuated simultaneously and to the same extent..A shaft B drives through gearing (not shown) a worm b<1> engaging a worm wheel C the shaft of which is formed as a worm c<1> driving a worm wheel e<1>. This wheel e<1> is mounted on a shaft in a long bearing e<2>, the shaft carrying also a worm E driving a worm wheel F placed in open bearings H, H<1>. The worm wheel F has bosses on which are eccentrically mounted pawls G<1>, G driving ratchet wheels m<1>, n<1> on the trip and total counters respectively. The pawls are maintained in contact with their ratchet wheels by a spring f<3>. The counters are mounted on a bolt J, and comprise sets of drums connected by transfer mechanism (not shown). The first drum in each counter is prevented from being dragged backwards by its pawl by a layer of frictional material placed between the drum and a collar on the bolt J.
