Abstract

377,817. Ring springs. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. July 31, 1931, No. 21877. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1930. [Class 108 (iii).] Self-damping spring units 9, Fig. 3, of the kind comprising interengaging contracting and expanding coned rings 10, 11 are employed in a torsionaloscillation damping shaft coupling, and, in order to produce a discontinuous spring- characteristic diagram, three groups of springs I, II, III, Fig. 7, may be disposed in series with intermediate pieces, the wedging angles alpha<1>, alpha<2>, alpha<3> and the cross sections of the springs being in ascending order. The rings 10, 11 are located between an outer sleeve 12 having a cap 15 and two inner sleeves 13 surrounding a bolt 14, the units being secured to the coupling arms 5, 6 by the parts 14, 15 and the sleeves 13 being arranged to compress the springs for both directions of rotation.
