405,526. Motor power plant. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 16, 1933, No. 17222. Convention date, June 16, 1932. [Class 7 (ii).] In a power plant comprising two or more prime movers of irregular torque, the power from which is transmitted through gearing to a common shaft, there is interposed a non- disengageable ring spring coupling between each of the engines and their pinions. Two multiple expansion steam engines 1, 1, drive the shaft 3 through gearing 2, 4 and a coupling 5 is interposed between each engine and its pinion 4. This coupling is of the known ring spring type and may consist of two flanges united by spring elements 9 which consist of inner and outer spring rings 10, 11 capable of sliding on one another and guided on an internal sleeve 12 on one coupling and a surrounding sleeve 13 on the other. A modification is described wherein Diesel engines replace the steam engines.
