Abstract
377,765. Spray burners. BRILLI•, E., 111, Boulevard St-Michel, Paris. May 8, 1931, No. 13717. Convention date, May 14, 1930. [Class 75 (i).] Liquid fuel issuing through a passage F in the head E of a tube c, Fig. 1, is primarily atomized by air passing through channel I in the head and is then completely atomized by a transverse air jet issuing from a channel e which may be regulated by adjusting the tube c axially by means of a screwed spindle W relatively to a nozzle B in an apertured tube b mounted in an air casing A. The fuel supply is regulated by a needle valve x. Forms of heads E are described in which single or multiple channels F, I of circular or rectangular section deliver into one or more channels e. Fig. 5 shows one form in which the jets are disposed alternately at opposite inclinations. Fig. 6 shows another form into which the tube C is fitted with a cylindrical nose D surrounded by a sleeve E and terminating in a cup H secured by a screw H<1>. The air passes through channels g into an axial chamber G in the tube c and issues through radially arranged passages I. The fuel enters the passages I through parallel, convergent, or divergent passages F and as it leaves the passages I is impinged upon by air jets issuing from channels e preferably arranged obliquely so as to promote turbulence of the mixture. The nose D instead of being cylindrical may be wholly or partly conical.
