Abstract
377,367. Ship windows ; window regulators. PATE, G., MERCER, J. H., and BACON, H. R., of Carron Co., Carron, Stirlingshire. June 4, 1931, No. 16150. [Class 20 (iii).] A ship window of the kind which is raised and lowered by screwnut mechanism 4, 5, acting on a carrier 2 to which the sash is connected by wedges and inclined slots which force it against packing 6 when closing, has a sash supporting arm 8 on a bell-crank lever which rests on the cross member 7 of the carrier. The arm 11 of the bell crank is tilted to disengage the support 8 when the window is closed, and sliding of the sash in the carrier causes engagement with the packing 6 ; at the same time the sash is moved over a fixed support 13. On opening, the reverse operations take place. The screw is rotated by bevel gearing 15, 16 and a handle.
