Abstract
377,168. Motor power plant. DREHER, G., 31, Lyckallee, Charlottenburg, Berlin. Jan. 14, 1931, No. 1317. Convention date, Jan. 14, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 110 (iii).] A jet wheel turbine 3 operates in the cylinder head of an internal - combustion engine 1 and is actuated by combustion gases during the working and exhaust strokes of the engine. The gases pass to the turbine through a rotary valve 6. The turbine shaft is parallel to the engine crank shaft and is mechanically coupled to it. For a multicylinder engine, a series of jet wheels 4 operate on one rotor. Rotary inlet valves 10 supply fuel to a combustion chamber 2, and the exhaustgases from the turbine leave through a port 8. In a modified arrangement the turbine is attached to two cylinders each lying at an angle to the plane of symmetry which passes through the turbine axis. A flywheel for the engine may be omitted due to the rotary effect of the turbine.
