Abstract

377,031. Respiratory apparatus. DAVIS, R. H., 187, Westminster Bridge Road, London. Oct. 19, 1931, No. 29020. Addition to 371,278. [Class 81 (ii).] The self-contained breathing apparatus according to the parent Specification is provided, according to the present invention, with a cooling device between the inspiratory air fitting on the breathing bag and the mouthpiece. The cooler may consist, as shown in Fig. 1, of two tubes 8, 9 in parallel, between the outlet fitting 6 on the bag 1 and a fitting 10 carrying a relief valve 16 and connected by a pipe 12 to the mouthpiece. In modifications a single serpentine cooling tube may be used or the tubes may be arranged vertically, as shown in Fig. 5. The tubes in each modification may be of corrugated brass or copper and short connecting pieces 14, Fig. 8, of a nonconductor such as rubber may be placed between the fitting 6 and the cooling tubes. The fitting 6 may carry an oxygen connection and the relief valve be placed on the inlet fitting of the bag.
